ZAMBEZI FILM FESTIVAL

Films; Dingaka, African Jim, Mapantsula, Lobola, Mr. Drum, Kalushi, The Wound, Happiness is a four letter word, starring Mabhunu Sabela, Ken Gampu, Nomsa Nene, Abigail Kubheka, Patrick Shai, Connie Chiume, Nthati Moshesh exposed all the black youth into films like Dirty Gerty from Harlem, The Blood of Jesus, Leadbelly, Fools, Rights of Passage and Shaft, starring Don Wilson, Francine Everett, Paul Robeson, Heather Hardeman amongst a few.

Pioneering the black film industry and creating stars are filmmakers; Spencer Williams Jnr., Oscar Micheaux, Gordon Parks, Mabhunu Sabela, Thomas Mogotlane, Ramadan Suleman, Mario van Peebles, Bill Duke, Carl Franklin, Spike Lee, F. Gary Gray, John Fuqua, Jahmil  X Qhubeka, Zola Maseko, Jodan Peele, Ryan Coogler, Barry Jenkins, which continue to teach and entertain us today.

Conserving such legacy, ZIFF plays a pivotal developmental vehicle for the black storytellers all over the world to share story. Bring back human dignity while bridging the economic gap between urban and rural communities.

 

Winners in the festival will be those that share the same vision; continue the high standards of filmmaking,  preserve the black heritage, forge wider, and inclusive audiences.
